Hair Metrix – The first AI-based scalp and hair examination system (trichoscopy)

Hair Metrix is a prime example of the use of Artificial Intelligence in support of medical diagnosis.

As the first trichoscopy system of its kind, Hair Metrix performs immediate analysis of images taken from the patient’s scalp and hair, providing the following data:

  • Number of hairs per cm².
  • Number of follicles per cm².
  • Average hair thickness.
  • Ratio of vellus/terminal hairs in the follicular units, etc.

This data helps the dermatologist in diagnosing hair loss.

The body map is used to detect images of moles in patients with a high predisposition to develop them and who need continuous monitoring. The dermatologist is responsible for tracking these moles during each visit to determine which moles are new and which may have changed.

DermaGraphix® uses a professional high-resolution camera and advanced software to analyze the mole map across the entire skin surface of the patient, creating a photographic baseline of all their moles. By using this digital mole map, dermatologists can more easily distinguish new moles or moles that are changing rapidly – one of the possible signs of melanoma. In addition to the trained eye of the dermatologist, we have technology and artificial intelligence to track these delicate changes.

DermaGraphix® is able to:

  • Capture fully automated images of the “body mole map”.
  • TëLabel and link all dermoscopic images with a unique automatically generated number in the “Body Mole Map” for efficient and accurate examination and follow-up.
  • Localize lesions according to criteria set by the physician (border, asymmetry, color).
  • Assist the physician in selecting lesions for dermoscopy.
  • Automatically compare images from one visit to another, identifying lesions that have changed or new lesions.
